ComfoAir 350, 500 and 550 units take the same 500x198x14mm set as the standard 300/375 line.
M5 + F7: the standard filtration, plus optional upgrades
Every ComfoAir unit ships with two filters as standard:
- M5 (ePM10) extract filter — pulls coarse dust and larger particles out of stale indoor air before it leaves the house
- F7 (ePM1) supply filter — screens incoming fresh air down to fine dust, pollen and most airborne allergens
Selected models also accept these alternative filters in place of the standard set:
- G4 basic pairing — a lower-cost general-dust option for households without allergy concerns
- Activated carbon (AC) layer — cuts external traffic fumes and odours on Q-series and E350 units
- H13 HEPA-grade upgrade — fits several ComfoAir models where fan capacity allows, for severe allergy or asthma sufferers
Replacing ComfoAir filters: the 3–6 month rule and pollen-season checks
Zehnder recommends a 3–6 month replacement cycle for ComfoAir filters under normal conditions. Because the F7 supply filter is built to trap fine particles, it loads up noticeably faster in spring and early summer — check it monthly during peak pollen season rather than waiting for the scheduled interval. A saturated filter forces the fan to draw harder, which raises electricity use and cuts the volume of fresh air reaching your rooms.
Original Zehnder vs. ISO 16890 compatible: same protection, lower price
Each ComfoAir filter set comes in two tiers:
- Original — genuine Zehnder-specified filters, identical to the factory-fitted set
- House brand (compatible) — built to the exact same dimensions and filter class, independently tested to ISO 16890, at a lower price
Because both tiers carry the same ISO 16890 rating, switching to house brand doesn’t mean switching filtration performance — only price.

Is there an activated carbon filter for Zehnder ComfoAir Q units?
Yes. We stock an original Zehnder activated carbon set for the ComfoAir Q350, Q450, Q600 and E350 (G4+G4 AC). The carbon layer absorbs odours drawn in with the outdoor air — traffic fumes, wood smoke or a neighbour's barbecue — while the G4 media still filters coarse dust. It replaces your standard set, so use it when odours are the main problem and switch back to G4+F7 when fine dust and pollen matter more.
Do Zehnder ComfoAir Q350, Q450 and Q600 units use the same filter size?
Yes. The ComfoAir Q350, Q450 and Q600 — and the ComfoAir E350 — all take the same filter set, available as G4+F7, G4+G4 or an activated carbon version. Older ComfoAir models (70, 160, 180, 200, standard 300/375 and 350/500/550) each take a different size, so check your model on the front panel before ordering.
Why do Zehnder ComfoAir filters need more frequent checks in high-pollen seasons?
Because ComfoAir's F7-class supply filter is specifically designed to capture fine airborne particles including pollen, it can load up faster during spring and early summer than during the rest of the year. Checking filters monthly during peak pollen season, even within the standard 3–6 month replacement window, helps maintain steady airflow and allergy protection.
What filter class does Zehnder use in ComfoAir units?
Zehnder ComfoAir units use two filter classes:
- G4 (ISO Coarse) — protects the heat exchanger; used on the extract side
- F7 (ePM1) — for the supply air, capturing fine dust and pollen
For most ComfoAir models we stock both a G4+F7 set and a G4+G4 set. The G4+F7 set is the better choice for allergy sufferers and homes near busy roads.
How do I find the correct replacement filter for my Zehnder ComfoAir unit?
Find the exact model on the unit's front panel — for example ComfoAir Q350, Q450 or Q600, ComfoAir 350/500/550, ComfoD 350/450/550 or Zehnder EVO. That is the fastest way to match the correct filter set in our catalogue. If the label is missing, measuring the extract and supply filters directly identifies the right size just as reliably.
